Happy New Year!
What a year this one has been, huh? It blows my mind how many people are sick right now. How fast things are changing. I, for one, coming to you live from my bed. It's been great just relaxing, but to have to force myself to recover at the same time? Remembering to drink water, take vitamins, eat. All my body wants to do is sleep. And honestly, this out of all times is the best time for me to listen to my body.
How many of you are like me and at some point worked through sickness? Yeah, a lot of you, I know. Sick as a dog, but just had to get that work done. I know, I get it! This New Year let's really claim "New Year, New Me" and start taking care of ourselves more. A lot of things are "easier said than done", but we really have to stop using that excuse for everything. Life is tough, challenging, scary! The reality is, life isn't supposed to be easy. We have to adapt to these changes in life and keep pushing toward our goals.
To keep pushing when things seem unpromising is tough. I love the idea of finding an accountability partner. Someone who checks in on you 1-2x a week about your goals, making sure you're still motivated, making sure you're actually taking the steps necessary to get moving. You can have an acocuntability partner for anything! Trying to drink more water? Trying to eat better? Trying to workout more? Want to include more self-care in your daily/weekly routine? Want to get into a new book? There are so many different things you can have an acocuntability partner for. I have my someone for a business I am looking to get started. I know you'll see this so when you do, THANK YOU! When I'm not feeling motivated, you remind of why I even wanted to start in the first place, whether you know it or not.
And for those of us who aren't quite sure what our thing is, it's okay! One of the easiest tools many of us have at our fingertips, literally, is the internet. There are new things we could be learning to expand our knowledge, to learn more about that thing you're currently working on. Take a class. Read a new book. Check out an informative podcast. If you haven't already, it's time to expand your knowledge in your finances. I know many of us, including myself, are dealing with financial hardships, but making small steps that turn into habits will help get on track even faster.
When it's all said and done, you want to make sure you lived your life to the fullest. You fulfilled dreams and aspirations that YOU wanted. Make sure whatever you're doing it's making YOU happy. We've spent 2021 and maybe even several years before that taking care of others and leaving ourselves on the back burner. This year is you're year. It's your turn!
Some Things to Think About
This year is about you. What are some things you're looking forward to? Some things you really want to accomplish?
I just started implementing S.M.A.R.T Goals into my routine. It's often used in management settings, but can be applied to any aspect in life. Here's what it stands for:
S: Specific (Simple, Sensible, Significant)
M: Measurable (Meaningful, Motivating)
A: Achieveable (Agreed, Attainable)
R: Relevant (Reasonable, Realistic and Resourced, Results-based)
T: Time Bound (Time-Based, Time-Limited)
